~ 2010 Lenten Season ~
A Message from the Pastor:
It is that wonderful season again where we search our souls and "throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles us." (Hebrews 12:1) This time of deep reflection is called the Lenten season. This year, Lent began on February 17, 2010 At CTBC, we started the season off with a noon day 30 minute prayer service, including the anointment of oil, for all who desired to participate. I asked God to take them to a higher spiritual level. Anointing with oil was also done at the end of the Wednesday Night Prayer Service on February 17.
As you should know, every year we as a church join in some act of dedication to God to draw us closer to Him. This year, I as asking everyone to study and pray for 30 minutes daily during Lent. Your 30 minutes commitment can be broken up as you wish (15 minutes in the morning and 15 at night; 10 minutes morning, noon and night). During your Lenten prayer/study time, read all of Hebrews which contains our theme for the year. I am also asking everyone to make every attempt to attend Wednesday Night Bible Study during Lent (starts at 5:45 p.m.). I also hope you reduce your television, video and internet time, and instead meditate on God's Holy Word.
May this Lenten season provide the spiritual wind you need to run the race set before you. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Rev. Keith A. King, Pastor
